Aim: To look at the different growing conditions and how these affect the growth of seeds.
Method: We worked in groups of 3-4 studentsPotting mix was put into the cups. The cups were planted with radish seeds. Each cup had different growing conditions:Cup 1 - normalCup 2 - red cellophaneCup 3 - overwateredCup 4 - Under watered or green cellophane
The plants grew in their cups for 10 days before they were measured.
Plant growing condition
|
Height after 10 days (mm)
|
Normal
| 50mm |
Green cellophane
| 0 |
Red cellophane
| 0 |
Overwater
| 50mm |
The green cellophane seedling was planted in normal potting mix, covered in green cellophane and watered. It grew to a height of ________mm. The red cellophane seedling was planted in normal potting mix............. to a height of ___________mm. The overwatered seedling was planted in normal potting mix, the water could not drain out the bottom of the pot and it grew to a height of ______mm
Conclusion:
From the pictures and evidence, we can conclude that:
The seedling height was:
1.
2.
3.
4.
The best growing conditions were:
1. normal
2.
3.
4.
therefore the seedling with _____________ conditions grew to a height of _________mm.
